Proclaim The Word [Page Under Development]

Welcome to our new tab: Proclaim the Word. It is designed to provide assistance first of all to those who exercise the Ministry of Reader (Lector) in the Church. The initial talks trace the history of the reading of Scripture in the community, beginning with Luke’s account of Jesus reading from the Book of Isaiah in the Nazareth synagogue. We also examine how the Second Vatican Council renewed the choice of readings, both from the Hebrew Scriptures and related writings, and from the whole of the New Testament. Subsequent talks will examine different books/parts of the Bible. Every Reader should aim to have a basic grasp of the contents of the Bible, to be able to read with understanding, and, yes, with love. The Reader transmits knowledge and love of the Word of God to the community. ‘Proclaim the Word’ can also be used as a general introduction for all those wishing to deepen their familiarity with the Word of God so as to live it in daily life.
